Farm bill proposals would extend USDA loans to commercial shrimpers and fishermen
Summary

USDA grants and loans traditionally reserved for farmers could extend to commercial fishermen and shrimpers, if a series of proposed amendments from Rep. Nancy Mace are included in the 2026 farm bill.

Andrew's Take
Extending these grants for commercial shrimpers and fishermen is a step forward for the economy. It is not taking from the farmers, they still have the same access they always have, but giving the fishing industry access to sorely needed financial assistance will be huge.
